Before you even begin to search for
just the right firm to help you develop your web site, you must
know the Four Elements of Web
Presence.
Then, as you begin to evaluate
prospective Web Presence Providers, you will need to first learn which of the elements they can provide.
- Find out if they will be directly
responsible for your domain name record or leave it up to you to
work with some third-party company to protect your domain
name.
- Ask whether they will support you and your site in an ongoing fashion once the site has been
published, and determine just what that support includes.
- Ask what happens if growth forces changes in your business and
in the way you present information, work with your clients, and define yourself.
- Ask whether they will work with you to develop your site in stages as your business dictates change.
- Ask what experience they have in Search
Engine Optimization and what specific recent success they can
show you; and find out what action they would take to assure
that your new site will rank well in the major search engines.
